My Path Toward Becoming a Yoga Therapist

Over the past few years, yoga has become so much more than movement and breathwork for me. It has grown into a way of listening deeply. Of understanding the connection between body, mind, and spirit. This unfolding has inspired me to take the next step in my journey: training to become a certified yoga therapist.

Yoga therapy is a little different from a traditional class. Instead of focusing only on flexibility or strength, it takes a whole-person approach. As a yoga therapist in training, I’m learning how to support people who may be living with pain, moving through recovery, navigating chronic conditions, or carrying the weight of stress and emotional challenges.

Therapeutic yoga is gentle, intentional, and adaptable. A session may include guided breathing to calm the nervous system, supported postures with props for deep rest, or mindful movement to create more ease in the body. Each practice is tailored to the unique needs of the individual, always meeting them exactly where they are.

Yoga therapy can be especially supportive for those who are:

  • Living with chronic pain or limited mobility

  • Managing autoimmune conditions or nervous system disorders

  • Experiencing stress, anxiety, or burnout

  • Recovering from illness, surgery, or injury

  • Navigating chronic illness or long-term disease

  • Or simply seeking a safe, compassionate space to reconnect with themselves

This path feels deeply meaningful to me. I believe yoga therapy opens gentle doors to healing, to self-discovery and to resilience. I am honored to walk this path and to share these practices with my community.
